NHC 2008 Scholarship Application Information
NHC awards a number of scholarships each year. All awards are determined on a combination of need/merit. Students should submit their program application and all of the additional scholarship requirements togeter by mail.
Scholarship Eligibility: All High School Freshman, Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors May apply. Students must be interested in pursuing the fields of Business, Law, Medicine, Television & Film or Leadership and maintain a cumulative GPA of a 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. Students may only receive one scholarship.
Scholarship Requirements
Scholarships will be awarded based on the following criteria.
- Demonstration of genuine financial need (typically household income less that $30,000 unless there are mitigating circumstances).
- Maintenance of a minimum of a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale (if school uses different scale, please indicate school’s grading system).
- Demonstration of outstanding leadership in school and community.
Submission Requirements
Students wishing to apply for a scholarship must submit the following items. Incomplete applications will not be considered:
- Completed 2008 NHC Program Application - If you are applying for a scholarship you do not need to submit a deposit with your application. (this is the general program application - there is no seperate application for the scholarship) . To dowload the 2008 NHC application please click here. - Letter of Recommendation from the students Principal, Guidance Counselor, or Teacher
- Copy of School Transcript
- List of community, school, and volunteer activities
- List of honors, awards, and scholarships
- 250 word essay describing how NHC will help you achieve your goals
- Copies of first two pages of 2006 or 2007 1040 forms for each household wage earner. (If taxes were not filed in 2006, please include a statement of your household income). Additionally, please provide a statement regarding any special circumstances (i.e. hurricane victim, medical bills etc.). International applicants please provide similar verification of household income.
Although NHC has three rounds of scholarship awards, we strongly encourage you to apply ASAP to ensure the maximmum funds are still available.
First Round Scholarship Deadline: Completed scholarship applications must be mailed and postmarked no later than December 15 , 2007. First round scholarship determinations will be made by January 12, 2008.
Second Round Scholarship Deadline: Completed scholarship applications must be mailed and postmarked no later than March 30, 2008. Second round scholarship determinations will be made by April 20, 2008.
Third Round Scholarship Deadline: Completed scholarship applications must be mailed and postmarked no later than May 15, 2008. Third round scholarship determinations will be made on a rolling basis.
